Join us as we turn Bucksport into Ghostport
At our Second Annual:
Ghostport Event…It’s Wicked Good Fun!
Saturday, October, 23, 2010

This coming October, before we pull our bed covers tight to ward of the onslaught of winter’s cold, join us as we bring a chillingly, spooky event to the Bucksport area. Last October, we launched our first ever Ghostport event, which despite uncooperative weather, generated lots of excitement. Last year’s Ghostport events featured a fireworks display, pumpkins being catapulted into the river, a little goblins parade down Main Street and competitors racing coffins in the inaugural “Jonathan Buck’s race to the grave event”.

We believe the Greater Bucksport area is an ideal setting for Halloween activities with our rich spooky History surrounding the Jonathan Buck tombstone, the macabre murder of Sarah Ware and countless local ghost stories.

Folks might be surprised to know that Halloween is second only to Christmas, for consumer retail spending. Our vision is to grow the Ghostport event to such an extent that people will travel here, shop at local stores, eat at restaurants and book rooms to stay the night. We will be encouraging downtown businesses and neighborhoods to get in the Ghostport spirit by decorating and providing a spooky Halloween environment.

Ghostport will capitalize on the thousands of visitors who attend the annual Friends’ of Fort Knox Fright at the Fort. Ghostport will benefit from the Friends of Fort Knox continued assistance blending Ghostport into their extensive Fright marketing efforts. The Friends have indicated that they will offer a fireworks display again this year citing how well the event was received last October.

In order to grow the Ghostport event to the level that will benefit area businesses, we need your help! You can help us grow the event by becoming an event volunteer, decorating your local business for Halloween and/or by donating product, funds of services. We ask that you take a few moments to review and consider what level of support you might be able to provide for the Ghostport event.
